What You Create, You Become

Occasionally, we share some of the things I personally have discovered through the lens of a refugee, an entrepreneur, and a community leader.

One of the things I learned early on in my life is that I become what I create - here I speak specifically about habits.

The habits you create help you become who you are and helps to continue the path to improvement - or the opposite, depending on what you choose to do.

One of the habits I created for myself came from watching my grandparents wake up as early as 4 or 5 am to read and discuss the news. They took a few hours in the morning before the crazy business day started to digest some of the big world challenges, then strategized what their day would look like.

I was fortunate to be able to observe them, and to adopt their habit myself. I began waking up early and utilized the extra time to read, reflect, and plan. At the time, I didn’t realized that I was creating the adult I would become.

This uninterrupted, focused time has helped me plan and move forward with some of my ideas. Although it can sometimes take longer than anticipated, because I can’t always do what I want to do in a single day. Sometimes I have to plan things out over five or six days because I can only accomplish so much within a single day or a few hours.

This habit allows me to strategize about being consistent, persistent, and moving forward with the ideas that I develop.
