Move Forward to Go / Reflect to Grow
One thing I know for sure is that if we keep doing what we do, we will move forward — but if we want to grow, we must reflect.
One of the programs I run while working with leaders around the world is about resiliency.
Observing leaders around the world for many years now, it has become clear to me that those who just keep doing the same things do move forward — but those who take the time to reflect grow at a much faster rate and have a better, more prosperous future.
I’m not saying what you are doing is right or wrong — I am asking you to think about reflecting before you keep going this year.
How do you reflect? There are three simple steps.
Think about the last 12 months in whatever way you choose:
What went well?
What went wrong?
What can you improve?
No one knows the total truth of what happened — we hold perceived values and ideas of what happened, what went right or wrong.
Reflection, meanwhile, allows you to think deeply about the actions you have taken, based on what happened or what you thought happened.
And while we don’t know 100% of the truth, we do know that our perceived images or thoughts are the reality we create for ourselves.
To create a better future, it’s important to understand — from your perspective — what went right or wrong and what you could do to improve things.
Please remember as you reflect to let go of what you cannot control!
I encourage you to download a free copy of the Resilient Canvas from our website.
Utilize it to reflect on 2023 so that you can grow throughout 2024.
BEFORE YOU GO
We see our blogs as opportunities for dialogue. Please share your thoughts as comments.
What can you learn from the past in order to improve the future?
What tactics and strategies have you used to keep growing versus just moving forward?
What other tools or ways of thinking have you utilized to keep growing?
