Entrepreneurship: Control What You Can Control

All around the planet, entrepreneurs worry more about what is happening in their communities or in the economic arena than what is happening in their business.

The reality is that what happens in your environment will affect you, but most of it you cannot control.

You can, however, control a lot within your own business.

We’ve noticed that there have been a number of entrepreneurs who have successfully launched or grown a business despite deterioration in everything around them, whether it’s lack of economic development or the economy on a downturn. No matter what it is, they find ways to grow or start their business.

The most important thing we have learned from them is that they focus on what they can control, and let go of what they can’t.

If you are an entrepreneur starting a business, please remember:

Focus on what you can control to start the business. What resources do you have today to make it happen? What resources will you need in the future to keep it happening? Stop worrying about what you cannot control.

For those growing an existing business: Think about where you can grow. What areas, what products or services will contribute to your growth?

BEFORE YOU GO

We see our blogs as opportunities for dialogue. Please share your thoughts as comments.

  1. What can you really control within your business?

  2. What ways can you find to let go of what you cannot control?

  3. What tools have you used to overcome the challenges with control?
