Entrepreneurship Practice

Working with so many entrepreneurs around the globe, we’ve learned that entrepreneurship is more of a practice than anything else. Entrepreneurs practice daily, weekly, and monthly. Those who are waiting for the best moment to start most likely will never find it. It’s a practice: You have to start with what you have, pilot with what you have, modify and learn from what you did, or what your customers responded to. You adjust, and keep moving forward.

Those who are thinking of starting a business as an exit from something else, or the desire for a normal life (whatever that means), or a way to get rich quick most likely will not enjoy the entrepreneurship pathway.

The Entrepreneurship Path - and this is why we are calling it practice - is a way of moving forward with what you have. There will never be the best or perfect time to start. But there will always be a time to start - when you decide to make things happen.

As COVID-19 most likely will continue for a while, aspiring entrepreneurs need to question themselves: Is this the only crisis you will ever face in your life? Most likely not! Those who have been in business before know that we have faced many other crises in the past and will face them in the future as well. The question is: Are you willing to do what it takes to keep your business moving forward?

Are you willing to pivot or change or modify or adapt to keep your customers engaged during a crisis? Does it make sense to do any of these things during a crisis?

It’s not about whether you should start or not, it’s about whether you are doing it for the right reasons, at the right time and for the right people. Who do you plan to serve? Would they like to hear from you, and what are you willing to do to make it happen?

Remember, this is not the first nor the last crisis you will face. it’s just one crisis along the pathway of entrepreneurship.

From our perspective, you might want to think about starting to practice now. Maybe practicing the entrepreneurship path requires much smaller overhead since you don’t have to have an office. Maybe there is an easier way to engage customers by targeting or focusing or in specific segments and seeing if there is a demand or need for it. And once you do that, you could start scaling your business slowly.

BEFORE YOU GO

We see our blogs as opportunities for dialogue. Please share your thoughts as comments.

  1. What can you do to start your business idea today?

  2. What have you been waiting for to make this happen?

  3. What else can you do to move your idea forward and start your entrepreneurship practice?
