Digitalizing your SME
I’ve been hearing that many organizations are looking for ways to support small businesses as they digitalize.
While I love and appreciate the idea as a small business owner, I’ve learned a few things working in the field for the past 30-some years. one of them is this:
The technology is never the problem. The people are the problem.
I know it’s not necessarily the gentlest way to say it, but it is the reality of what we need to address to move small business forward.
Digitalizing business is important and vital — especially in this COVID era. It’s also important to know that the mindset of the entrepreneur: What they want to do, how they want to keep or grow their business. It's a mindset in which they must decide what they want to do, or not do.
Accepting technology can be challenging but also it can also create new opportunities or ways to do business. Some may be ready for it, others may be ready to get out of it. No matter which side of the aisle you would like to be on as an entrepreneur or a small business owner, know that there are lots of ways you can make your business technology friendly. Here are two for your consideration:
Adjust your mindset! Accept the changes being forced on you or being put in front of you.
Explore your options! In the course of the past three decades, I’ve been fortunate to have used over 1,000 tech tools to keep my business going. Explore your options, know what you are paying for. The ease of its use is key.
