Mentorship vs Coaching
Mentorship continues to be a popular topic, and we have blogged about it several times.
What we have learned over the years is that a Mentor sheds light on a pathway that can be taken. The Mentor sheds light and shares stories - and it is the art of the story that inspires the mentee to consider what they can do with the information.
A Coach, on the other hand, may have a specific curriculum or methodology they want their clients to follow, while a Consultant may be willing to roll up their sleeves and dig in with you.
Mentors stay on the high level, keeping you focused on the finish line without them telling you where the finish line is.
It can be challenging for the mentee, but it is what makes the mentor inspirational, keeping the mentee thinking about what is best for them versus what would worked for someone else in the past.
