Create Your Own Labels

At some point in our lives, we have all been labeled by others. Personally, I have been labeled as a refugee, an immigrant, a father, a son, and a few negative labels I won’t mention here.

In our calls with leaders globally, we’ve learned that many resilient skills come from the ability to create your own story, with your own labels. Others may label you one way or another— positive or negative—but you have the ability to make sense of that label in your own story or self, or turn it into something else. This is one of the most important, powerful ways for you to stay resilient.

You don’t have to accept any label put on you by others.

As tough times come or go, creating your own labels is a new way for you to move forward. Sometimes, you may have to shift the circles you are in to create this new label or draft this new journey. COVID-19 gives you a reason to re-define your story and the labels that you want to carry.

As you continue to grow and stay resilient with what’s happening around you, we encourage you to rethink what stories and labels you want choose to carry.

BEFORE YOU GO

We see our blogs as opportunities for dialogue. Please share your thoughts as comments.

  1. What tools have you used to stay resilient?

  2. How have you redefined the labels others have put on you or your business?

  3. Do you really have to buy into labeling at all? Can we just be humans, citizens of the globe?
